Moonlight State Beach
Encinitas, CA
Completed 2013
Moonlight Beach is a beloved, 16 acre state park in the heart of Encinitas. Improvements to the parks facilities include a new restroom and concession building as well as a lifeguard garage that provides a public viewing deck. The new park design emulates the curves of ocean waves, punctuated with palm trees and playful site elements. The plan incorporates sustainable practices, low impact development and water conservation with infiltration rain gardens and native bluff plantings. Vehicular circulation, loading zones and parking were accommodated without compromising the family friendly laid back park atmosphere of this popular resource.
