The Quad Student Housing

Marcie Harris Landscape Architecture collabroated wtih Safdie Rabines Architects to develop a state of the art student housing complex adjacent to California State University San Marcos. The 3.7 acre site is anticipated to receive LEED Silver certification. The team is committed to meeting the sustainable goals of water conservation and low impact development by building an on-site graywater filtration facility to supply irrigation water, using bioretention systems in the central lawn to increase site inifiltration and selecting local and recycled materials. Colorful succulents, native plants and shade trees soften the site and create respite. Shared common spaces include a central lawn, pool terrace, outdoor BBQ area, long seat walls and numerous cafe tables for gathering and studying.
